Some of Our Notable Achievements

Watershed development and protection in the western highlands of Cameroon in collaboration with the Swiss Association for International Cooperation (HELVETAS) from 1997 to 2004. Participation in the implementation of projects like the Bamenda Highlands Forest Project and Kilum-Ijim by UNDP Global Environment Facility and BirdLife International. Biodiversity surveys led to the creation of protected areas like the Kagwene Wildlife Sanctuary and Takamanda National Park. Advocacy efforts for environmental policies and conventions such as the RAMSAR Convention. Coastal wetlands management programs are funded by organizations like the Netherlands Committee of the IUCN (IUCN NL) and the World Wildlife Fund USA. Community-based conservation initiatives like the "Our Lake, Our Life" project in Lake Ossa Wildlife Reserve. Various corporate social responsibility projects in collaboration with companies like PECTEN Cameroon LLC and ADDAX Petroleum Cameroon, focusing on wetlands ecosystems rehabilitation and livelihood opportunities. Involvement in environmental management programs and plans across different regions of Cameroon, including water hyacinth management and integrated water resources management. Contribution to the development of agendas and plans for sustainable development, including the Integrated Water Resources Management Plan for Cameroon and Agenda 21 of the City of Douala. Capacity-building initiatives in partnership with organizations like the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and local councils in Cameroon. Support for local communities in areas like water, sanitation, reforestation, and infrastructure management, particularly in the context of humanitarian interventions.

About Us

Watershed Task Group (WTG) is a non-profit organization established in 1997 in Bamenda, Cameroon. It holds registration number 10777/E.29/1111/VOL.7/APPB and a taxpayer's card number MO29717611229K. WTG's primary focus is on biodiversity conservation, sustainable natural resource management, life cycle management, impact assessment, and audits. Its key competencies lie in water, wetlands, waste, energy, and environmental management. WTG's best practices in the green, circular, blue, and social economies have significant impacts.

Operating at national and regional levels, particularly within the Congo Basin and Lake Chad Basin, WTG collaborates with various entities, including local partners like Action for Biodiversity and Land Degradation (ABIOGeT) and international organizations such as the Global Water Partnership Cameroon. It also collaborates with initiatives like the Great Green Wall Initiative for the Sahel and Sahara, Wetlands International Africa, and the Clean Cooking Alliance, among others.
